Well, I did just a couple of things to my new to me 2013 XT250 over the last week, and hope to try it out on the trails this weekend.
  • Cleaned and oiled the K&N air filter (came with the bike / just needed a little cleaning)
  • Cleaned and lubed the chain
  • replaced the spark plug (denso iridium)
  • tinkered with the "power commander fc" settings and got rid of almost all the "decel popping"
(started in the "middle' of the settings and tried a few combinations for low/mid/high ... the "middle" for all 3 seemed to be the sweet spot, so that's where I landed).
* added a phone holder ... relatively generic form amazon, but holds the phone nicely so far (https://a.co/d/fKaus1G)
(Oil was changed 1,400 miles ago by the PO ... documented ... and the oil looked good, so I'm leaving it for now).

Next I hope to add a "riser" of some sort for the lower front fender. I saw one article where a guy made one out of a lumber/framing tie-plate. Apparently the nail-holes line right up with the fender mounts ... just need to drill them out a little and buy a few bolts. Seems cheap and easy !

Took a fun ride today with my brother on forest service roads in NE Alabama's Little River Canyon.

It reminded me how much I enjoy some light off road riding. There were some steep sections; gravel; chert; clay; soft dirt; creek crossings. Loads of fun from the sunrise start to getting back home👍🏻
