Virago 920 starter issues.

Hey guys I'm really hoping someone can help me out. Have a 1st Gen virago 920 that doesn't want to turn over with spark plugs in. I tried 3 different starters and it seems like they don't have enough power to turn over the engine I put a new starter gear new clip etc.. and the starters just seem to not be strong enough to turn the engine. Even tried it with a car battery but still nothing. Any advice would be much appreciated

this sounds like a battery or connection issue.
What exactly did you do with the car battery?

Jumped the starter straight with a car battery and the starter really has issues turning the engine over.

All early Viragos had (and still have) starter clutch problems. There is no actual repair but there are a few improvements that might help. Is your issue starter or starter clutch ? If the starter is turning but the engine is not then the clutch is the problem.
