So my bike recently started making alot of “knocking” noise. I took apart the left side of the engine cover and noticed the flywheel had alot of play back and forth. My question is is this normal amount of movment or could this be the cause of excessive engine noise? The play was about a good 3-5mm. I have a video of me moving it back and forth with my fingers but it wont let me attach a video :(

do you mean just the gear part?
if so it might be normal for play because it could be a one way sprag for starting??
I would say side to side play would not be ok though.
You really need a repair manual and probably take the flywheel off to see what's up with the gear.
sorry thats all I have.
