Hello all. Brand new to the forum, and have joined in search of some help.
I’m not mechanically challenged but my specialty would lean more towards Diesel engines of the straight 6 variety. Not small gas engines….

With that being said I have a Yamaha rhino 660 that I hunt out of and do not want a newer larger machine. I want to keep and fix this one.

I backed it out of my barn and it had been running fine… shortly after start up it died with no warning or previous symptoms. Almost seemed to have run out of gas. After I did some trouble shooting I will skip straight to what I have tried and what the machine is doing now.

I have replaced the fuel pump, the coil, the spark plug, the carb(with OEM from partzilla) and the small ecm in the battery box. Have removed the fuel line from the tank and ran it straight in a bucket with new clean gas, with the filter bypassed. The machine will not run on fresh gas or ether.

When turning the engine over I get some suction at the carb intake but also get some pressure blowing out the front of the carb, this leads me to believe some sort of valve issue maybe?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Parts replaced are now suspect .... Each has added to the original problem ..... Where to start ? Intake , compression , ignition at proper time , exaust ..... That , in that order is what is needed .. start by pulling muffler baffle .... then go to intake , check air filter and intake , valve clearance , Let us know what you find .....
