I had one shit the bed on me last season, I was told to just verify the oil pressure alarm would sound if the sensor was disconnected (which it did) so it was fine. The three main alarms you would be concerned about would be over heat, oil pressure and low fuel.
When hooking the older models (pre ‘21) up to diagnostics for testing/running you have to actually unplug the display anyway so you were running without a display wouldn’t hurt the water vehicle. Just keep in mind you have no speed or other critical info outside of alarms beeping at you if there were a problem
