2021 waverunner audio fuse keeps blowing.

I did the unthinkable and installed a new battery - reverse polarity.
After correcting polarity,
  • I replaced the main 30a fuse in the engine fuse block. Everything there is fine.
  • I tried to replace the 20a main fuse for the audio system but it blows instantly a new fuse is inserted.
Have I killed the audio system? Any suggestions?
thanks for any helpful advice - other than “hey dumbass - you should know better when handling a battery”!
thanks,
DGeoff

Dumb question but the power balancer leads (wires that power the speaker system) are going to the correct terminals on the battery now too right?

Well, I sure think so.
There’s a red shrink cover which I attached to the + and a black shrink cover which I attached to the -. But I hear you… I’m half tempted to swap the two around and try again. Cross finger, etc…
… I guess I should also add that the audio system was operating just fine before I messed up the battery polarity. I’d have thought the fuse would have protected from damage but….?

Well, either the positive wire to the system is shorted to ground or the system is shorted. So check the wiring carefully first. Then you will know for sure. My guess is you cooked the radio.
Just FYI the fuse protects the wire, not the device.
Thanks. I’ll double check the connection but pretty sure it is now hooked up ok - the motor starts & runs fine and so do all the other electronics - just not the audio. Didn’t realize fuses only protect wiring not electronics - so I learned something there.
Did you ever find a solution to this or was your audio system junk? Yes I did the same mistake.
