Starter rattles but doesn't engage. Dealer says Starter Clutch, pull main engine clutch to access. Wrong! Now suggests pull Stator/generator, says might be behind it. Have a manual with a pretty exploded view of the starter clutch but no mention in the text on how to access. Appreciate any one who knows advice, really don't want to split the cases.

You have to split the cases. I did it. Never done it. The screws in the starter clutch came loose. All three.
