1979 Yamaha XS750 Special

Hi Y'all,

I just picked up a 1979 Yamaha XS750 Special for a project bike. The cylinder head may have been be blown due to an issue in cylinder #2, previous owner mentioned oil was pouring out of the exhaust and intake area. There is potentially a running motor close by I may pick up, but before I jump to that option I would like to tear it down and see what the root cause is.

This will be my first tear down/swap/rebuild and I would appreciate some support from the community. I have yet to comb through the forum, but I will be doing some heavy research and planning this weekend. I plan on documenting my progress here so it can help someone else.

Any tips and guidance would be appreciated. Thank you guys/gyals and everything in between.
