520 chain vs 525

I have an 07 R6 and I figure its time to "wake her up" I bought the 47 tooth for the rear and 15 for the front (520) but I ordered to short of a chain. The stock 525 chain is the same just wider so there is side to side play. Now its making me wonder if I can save the $80 on the chain if its even needed? From searching I see all kinds of answers which I will probably get the same here but I thought I still try. One person said He has a 525 rear, 520 front and uses a 525 chain for years with no issues. another guy says its fine but will wear the sprocket quicker but had no answer to what is quicker? 10 years? 5 years? now you are probably thinking just spend the $80. well to me I also just bought a house and also want to flash the ECU so if I dont have to spend $80 I dont want to. Both of my new sprockets are steel.

thank you for any and all input.

side note, if my bike sits for months, say like after winter and go to drive off the clutch makes a clicking noise that sounds like the disks were stuck together and it takes about 5 ft before the noise stops. This only happens if the bikes sits undriven for say over a month.
