XLT1200 problems with second start

Hi Everyone!
I've rebuilt a 2003 XLT 1200 (a new owner, bought it with a seized engine). It starts and runs just fine, or looks to me fine, don't know tbh as I've never had one before.

The problem though - while in the water, I can only start it once. If I stop it, it won't start again - will keep cranking but no fire. To start it again I have to wait. I've ridden it 4 times so far for an hour each time, with no stopping the engine, then I take it to the garage and when I'm back - it starts fine again. Any ideas what that could be? Anyone ever had anything like that?

The first time it starts right away within a sec or two, so don't see any problems there. If I try starting/restarting on the shore - looks like I can restart it multiple times, but not in the water.

Any help greatly appreciated.

HMMM it does it only in the water? Man I know next to nothing about these things but it sounds like maybe some kind of safety kill switch. Do you have a wiring diagram? It would be interesting to see what's on it and if there is any switch or sensor to tell the machine if it flooding with water or something like that? Just throwing that out there. Let us know how it goes.

Oh, if you find a link to a wiring diagram post up a link, I could look at it and see if anything pops up at me.

Also, this forum is kind of dead, I would try to find a waverunner forum if I were you.

appreciate your reply, will ask on another forum. Will check the electrical diagram as well thanks for the tip - don't believe that it's the issue, but who knows.
Thanks again
