1992 G9 Starter issue?

I own a 1992 Yamaha G9 golf cart that I have been having starting issues with. When I press the gas pedal I hear a clicking sound and the engine starts and the cart runs great, but sometimes I press the gas pedal and hear no clicking sound and the cart will not start for a few seconds then it will start and run fine. Also when it doesn't take right off I hear a squealing sound like a belt makes. I have had the clutches replaced along with the belts when the cart failed to pull us up the hill at my local course. I am talking to my local Yamaha dealer about a new 2021 Yamaha golf cart so when I told them about my cart they mentioned if I did trade it in they may have to replace the starter at a cost of $300.00. Not sure if I am going to trade it or not as I may just sell it to a few of my friends who said they are interested in it but I don't want to sell them something that will break down a week after they buy it. The cart runs fine when it runs but I don't like it when I press on the pedal and nothing happens. Any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks!

It sounds like the starter solenoid. If you don't hear a click that means it's not engaging. Could very well be a bad connection on the solenoid also. We had the same issue with our G2 which is basically the same setup, (just a bad connection). And in case you didn't know yet, you can get a starter for about 115. online.
